DFV note: Above ~0.6 m/s the high-speed bypass opens — the force curve flattens, which is what makes hard hits over kerbs feel less harsh than KW / Bilstein at equal click.

Install + Bed-In Procedure

Estimated bay time: 5–7 hours for install + ride height set, add 2 hours for corner balance. Hub assemblies require pulling the axle nuts — torque to factory spec (177 lb-ft + 180°).

  • Lift, support, remove wheels.
  • Disconnect ABS sensor wire, hub-mounted sway end-link.
  • Loosen axle nut (177 lb-ft + 180° from factory).
  • Remove OE strut assembly (3× upper mount nut, 2× lower bolt).
  • Install Öhlins top mount (front: spherical bearing — index correctly).
  • Drop strut into knuckle. Torque lower bolt to 81 lb-ft + 90°.
  • Set ride height per the supplied chart. Lock with perch wrench.
  • Set damping baseline (12 clicks front / 14 clicks rear for street).
  • Drive 200 miles to bed in seals before final adjustment + corner balance.
Warranty + Rebuild Credit

Öhlins 2-year warranty against manufacturing defect, plus one rebuild credit valid for 36 months from purchase. Rebuild is performed at the Öhlins Mooresville facility — 5-day turnaround including shipping. Includes seal replacement, oil change, pressure recharge, and dyno verification.

Track use is covered. Bent shafts from off-track excursions are not warrantable but are repairable at the Mooresville facility for ~$420 per damper.

Returns

30 days from delivery on uninstalled, factory-sealed coilovers in original packaging. Custom spring-rate orders are non-returnable (Öhlins builds to order at the Sweden factory). Free return shipping for fitment errors on our side.

The DFV claim isn’t marketing.

I drove the same B-road on KW V3s and these Öhlins back-to-back. The V3s were busier over mid-frequency bumps — patchy asphalt felt like the chassis was being slapped. The Öhlins absorb the bump and stay flat. I run them at 8 clicks for the street and 4 clicks for the track. Two cars in 6 minutes.
