Three sound modes, dyno-tuned

The xMOD valves are controlled via the included key fob or the companion app. Touring closes both valves (84 dB at idle, quiet on highway). Street opens partially (92 dB at idle, aggressive at WOT, zero drone at 70 mph). Track opens fully (97 dB at idle, full LT1 V8 burble).

Install Instructions

Estimated install time: 2.5–4 hours for a confident DIY on a lift, 4–6 hours on jack stands. Tools: 13mm + 15mm sockets, penetrating oil, exhaust hangers, T-30 Torx.

  • Lift vehicle, support on stands behind front jack points.
  • Soak OE cat-back flange bolts with penetrating oil — wait 15 min.
  • Disconnect OE oxygen sensor extensions (if equipped, 2018+).
  • Remove OE cat-back from flange + hangers. Support midpipe weight.
  • Slide new xMOD X-pipe onto flange. Snug bolts hand-tight.
  • Hang mufflers from OE hanger isolators. Check tip alignment.
  • Route valve control harness along chassis to rear cargo area.
  • Connect valve module to battery + key-on switched 12V.
  • Torque flange bolts to 35 lb-ft. Test all three modes via fob.
  • Pair iOS / Android app — first launch under 30 sec.

Warranty

MagnaFlow xMOD cat-back systems carry a lifetime warranty against perforation, weld failure, and material defects. The electronic valve actuators are warranted for 5 years against motor or harness failure.

Track and HPDE use are covered. Off-road / racing use voids the electronic valve warranty (mechanical components remain covered). File claims via warranty@apex-performance.com or directly through MagnaFlow with proof of purchase.

Returns

30-day returns on uninstalled systems in original packaging with protective film intact. Once installed, exhaust components are considered used and can’t be returned (heat cycles discolor the polished tips). Fitment-related returns ship free — VIN mismatches get the correct kit overnighted at no charge.

Sound modes are a game-changer.

Touring mode at 5am out of the driveway means I don't wake the neighbors — quieter than my OE NPP exhaust. Track mode at the canyon is exactly the loud LT1 burble I bought it for, crackles on lift-off included. Drone is non-existent in Street mode at 70 mph on the highway — MagnaFlow finally nailed this. Sound clip on their YouTube is accurate.

T-304 weld quality is real.

Owned three cat-backs across two Camaros. The MagnaFlow xMOD TIG welds are noticeably cleaner than the Borla S-Type I had before — no slag, dimes lined up. Dyno gains were a bonus.

Bought it for the sound, the +6 WHP / +9 lb-ft I saw on the dyno was a nice surprise. Lost about 8 lbs vs OE on the scale. CARB EO number means no smog hassle in California. OBD readiness was a non-issue — no codes thrown after install, drove straight to inspection a week later and passed.

Sounds great, instructions PDF had a typo.

Two-person driveway install with stands took 3.5 hours. X-pipe alignment was tricky — would do it on a lift next time, half a star off for that. PDF instructions called for 25 lb-ft on the band clamps, MagnaFlow support clarified it should be 35 for the gen-6 4.5" piping. They acknowledged the typo and updated the PDF within a day. Otherwise the sound is everything I hoped.
