Tune recommended

Cold-air intakes increase MAF airflow ~14% on the Camaro SS — the stock ECU calibration will lean out under load if you stay on the OE tune. Pair with an HP Tuners calibration or our $295 shop tune to safely capture the full +14 WHP / +18 lb-ft we measured on the dyno.

  • Disconnect battery negative terminal.
  • Unplug MAF sensor connector. Loosen intake clamp at throttle body.
  • Remove OE airbox: pull up firmly — it’s on rubber grommets.
  • Install carbon heat shield on OE airbox mounting points.
  • Transfer MAF sensor from OE tube to Apex tube (T-25 Torx).
  • Slide cone filter onto tube, clamp. Route tube through shield.
  • Re-clamp at throttle body. Reconnect MAF connector + battery.
  • Clear ECU adaptive memory: ignition ON / engine OFF for 30 sec.
  • Flash tune before driving under load.

+12 WHP dyno-confirmed with tune.

Dyno-confirmed +12 WHP / +14 lb-ft on my 2021 1LE with an HP Tuners tune to match the new airflow. Induction howl at WOT is exactly what I wanted — aggressive but not droney at cruise. Fit was perfect, 45 min in the driveway. MAF housing aligned without needing to shim. OBD readiness completed in 2 drive cycles.

Better than the K&N it replaced.

Switched from a K&N Typhoon after the dyno comparison. Cleaner tube routing, IAT drop of 14°F sustained on highway pulls vs the K&N which heat-soaked after 5 min. Carbon-fiber heat shield actually seals against the hood. Build quality is a clear step up — TIG welds on the tube look factory.

Sound clip sold me, the gains kept me.

Watched the YouTube WOT clip 20 times before pulling the trigger. Real-world it's even better — that LT1 howl from 4500 to redline is addictive. With the shop tune it pulled +11 WHP. Note for anyone on a gen-5 build sheet: this is gen-6 only, don't try to make it fit.

Needs a tune to see the full number.

Without a tune you'll feel a small seat-of-the-pants improvement but won't see the full +14 WHP they advertise. Pair with HP Tuners or the Apex shop tune and it hits as advertised. Star off because the listing should bundle a tune voucher — caught me by surprise. Otherwise rock solid product and OBD readiness was painless.
